CHRISTmas Humor, Moving Song & Scripture Meditations to Brighten Your Day after CHRISTmas!
We had a most wonderful CHRISTmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service at Church this year and I want to share with you the primary Biblical Text we contemplated to prepare our hearts and minds to partake of Holy Communion, as well as the secondary Text.
Everyone knows the historical record in the Gospel of Luke chapter two of the night our Lord Jesus Christ was born of the virgin and laid in a manger (animal feeding trough) in the barn in Bethlehem because there was no room for them at the Inn and how the Angels appeared to shepherds announcing Christ’s birth. Everyone also knows the historical record in the Gospel of Matthew chapter two of the Wise Men who came from the East to Jerusalem bearing gifts and asking, “Where is He who is born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and are come to worship Him!”
But not everyone is familiar with two other major passages of Holy Scripture which also are a historical record of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ; but which reveal a back stage, behind the scenes Heavenly perspective of Christ’s coming into this world known as the “Incarnation”—God became Man to Save Man from his Sins!
Below these two short passages of Holy Scripture, I also share a humorous video, then a video of the song Mary Did You Know? both by that song’s Author:
Christ was Born to Die!
Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV)
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8nd being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
John 1:1-5, 10-14, 16-18 (KJV)
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
16And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
CHRISTmas Humor & Moving Music:
The modern CHRISTmas song, Mary Did You Know? has become a seasonal favorite sung by various artists. But few people know who wrote the song.
Mark Lowry has been part of Bill and Gloria Gaither’s Vocal Ensemble for many years, both singing and providing humor. Mark Lowry is the Author of Mary Did You KNow? Though few have heard Mark sing his song.
This first video is some of Mark Lowry’s humor, which gives us some insight into Mark’s inquisitive mind, which God used to inspire him to write Mary Did You Know?:
