Sermon Notes & Scriptures:
Praise Looks Good on You! In fact, You Look Beautiful Clothed in Praise!
Psalms 33:1 (KJV)
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Isaiah 61:1-3 (KJV)
1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
“Praise” – Hebrew: hâlal, haw-lal'
A primitive root; to be clear (originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate.
Praise is the Way to Enter God’s Presence!
Psalms 100:1-5 (KJV)
1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
5 Ways to Praise the LORD – Clap, Shout, Sing, Dance & Play Instruments!
Psalms 47:1-2, 6 (KJV)
1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD Most High is Awesome; he is a Great King over all the earth.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Psalms 150:1-6 (KJV)
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the tambourine and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and wind instruments.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
